The first executive governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Ali Sa’ad, has called for the establishment of more schools in remote areas of his hometown, Birnin-Kudu Local Government Area.
Speaking on Sunday during the Jigawa State Citizens Engagement Program introduced by the Namadi administration, he emphasized the need to bridge the educational gap in underserved communities.
He noted that some areas in Birnin-Kudu lack access to schools due to the long distances children must travel, which discourages attendance.
Sa’ad also urged the state government to establish more dispensaries across all parts of the state to improve healthcare delivery and ensure that citizens benefit from democratic governance.
In addition, he called for the completion of abandoned road projects linking various communities, stressing that improved infrastructure would boost economic activities and facilitate easier movement.
Governor Malam Umar Namadi, in response, commended the people of Birnin-Kudu for taking the initiative to document their demands and present them to the government.
He acknowledged their efforts, describing it as a record-breaking move, and assured them that their requests would be carefully reviewed and addressed.
He further encouraged Jigawa residents to provide feedback on development projects to ensure proper monitoring and accountability at all levels.
The state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa, highlighted the purpose of the Citizens Engagement Program, explaining that it was designed to enhance transparency in governance.
He stated that the Namadi administration introduced the initiative to promote accountability among political officeholders and create a platform where citizens can engage directly with their elected representatives to seek answers on pressing issues.
