Be honest with yourself – Guardiola warns De Bruyne over Man City future

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has told Kevin De Bruyne to be “honest with himself”, when he takes a decision on his future with the Premier League champions.

De Bruyne will be out of contract at the end of this season.

And City will afford the 33-year-old the opportunity to decide his next move after a decade at the club.

De Bruyne was left on the bench for the 5-1 defeat at Arsenal and didn’t play a minute at Real Madrid last week.

The Belgian’s performance as City lost against Liverpool on Sunday attracted criticism and suggestions that his body can’t cope with the Premier League’s demands.

And Guardiola said: “I think in that situation he has to decide, that is the most important thing.

“He’s completely honest with himself, to decide what he feels and what he can do in the next period of his life.

“He’s 34 in the summer and he has to decide, like what happened with David Silva for example.”
