Jigawa anti-corruption commission recovers over N300m stolen public funds

The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has recovered over N300 million in public funds from August 2024 to date.

The Chairman of the commission, Barrister Salisu Abdu, disclosed this on Wednesday during a sensitization workshop for public and civil servants at the Manpower Development Institute.

Barrister Abdu emphasized the commission’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that since its inception, the commission has received over 200 public complaints and resolved 75% of them.

He attributed this success to the commission’s proactive approach, which focuses on prevention rather than just punishment.

“Our efforts go beyond recovery. We also prioritize settling complaints out of court where necessary,” he explained.

He further revealed that several local government council chairmen, including those currently in office, have been invited for questioning over public complaints affecting their councils.

He said the commission remains dedicated to ensuring good governance and public accountability in Jigawa State.
