Scotland: Dessers’ goal not enough as Rangers lose to Motherwell

Cyriel Dessers’s goal was not enough as Rangers fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Motherwell on Saturday.

Rangers lost three consecutive home games for the first time since 2012.

The hosts’ shot-stopper, Jack Butland, gifted Luke Armstrong the opening goal after nine minutes.

Tom Sparrow doubled the advantage on the half-hour mark.

Dessers reduced the deficit for Rangers early in the second half after being set up by Ridvan Yilmaz.

The Nigerian was denied an equaliser by the offside flag a few minutes later.

The 30-year-old has so far scored 11 goals in 26 league appearances for the Gers this season.

His compatriot, Leon Balogun, featured for Rangers for 45 minutes in the game.

Motherwell also fielded their Nigerian import, Moses Ebiye.
