Why I left Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia – Benzema opens up

Al Ittihad striker, Karim Benzema, has spoken about his decision to leave Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia.

Benzema moved to the Middle East in the summer of 2023.

According to the Frenchman, he wanted to leave the LaLiga giants on top.

Benzema also admitted he never wanted to play against Madrid throughout the rest of his career.

He said: “My decision to go to Saudi Arabia was also because I wanted to leave Real Madrid on top.

“And I didn’t want to ever play against Real Madrid in my life.”

During his time at the Bernabeu, Benzema won five Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles.

The 35-year-old also won the coveted Ballon d’Or award.
