United States President Donald Trump on Monday criticised Europe amid the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.
The Republican wrote in a post on Truth Social: “Europe has spent more money buying Russian oil and gas than they have spent on defending Ukraine—BY FAR!”
Trump’s remark comes after a heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over how to end the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The majority of European leaders have sided with Ukraine following the dispute between Zelensky and Trump at the White House last Friday.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, even emphasised that “the free world needs a new leader.”
Meanwhile, Zelensky expressed hope that Ukraine can still count on US support to bring the war to an end.
