Rapper Vector opens up on mum’s relationship with Orlando Owoh

Nigerian rapper Olanrewaju Ogunmefun David, popularly known as Vector Tha Viper, has revealed that his mother is related to veteran musician Stephen Oladipupo Olaore Owomoyela, aka Orlando Owoh.

He disclosed this while responding to a viral tweet asking people to share great information about their family history or ancestors.

“Tell us something great about your family history or ancestors,” an X user, @Yorubaness, solicited.

Joining the trend, Vector wrote, “My mum and Orlando Owoh are related.”

His revelation excited many, with some fans urging him to sample some of the musical works of the late music legend.

Orlando Owoh was a Nigerian highlife musician who began his musical career as a drummer with the Kola Ogunmola Theatre Group in 1958. In 1960, he founded his own band, Dr. Orlando Owoh and His Omimah Band. Over a musical career spanning forty years, he became one of the leading proponents of highlife music.

Owoh later established two other bands, Young Kenneries and the African Kenneries International. He released over 45 albums throughout his career. Orlando Owoh passed away on November 4, 2008, and was laid to rest at his residence in Agege, Lagos.
