UCL: PSG better than Liverpool – Arne Slot

Liverpool boss, Arne Slot has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain were the better team during both sides’ UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg tie on Wednesday.

According to Slot, he was not surprised because PSG have quality players in their squad.

Recall that the hosts had more goalscoring chances against the Reds in Paris.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker made nine saves and was also named man of the match.

Becker’s teammate, Harvey Elliott, scored the only goal of the match in 87 minutes.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Slot said Liverpool were lucky against PSG.

“Had we got a draw, we would still have been the lucky ones. They were much the better team today,” Slot said.

“It’s a good result for us, but we felt the quality of Paris.

“Every underlying stat shows they were the best side in the Champions League. I wasn’t surprised at how good they were.

“We were not under-par, it was just down to the quality of the opposition. They showed it today. Luis Enrique has created an incredible team here.”
