Communicate decisions before implementation of any policy – APC chieftain cautions state governors

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, has advised governors across the country to communicate decisions to citizens before implementing them.

Mumuni made this declaration while reacting to the recent closure of public schools in some states.

Media Talk Africa reports that some northern states, including Kano, Kebbi, Katsina, and Bauchi, have directed that all schools remain closed during Ramadan.

Our correspondent reports that some stakeholders have opposed the closure, which has generated significant controversy.

Mumuni, in his reaction, advised state governors to provide clear and timely information regarding the closure.

The APC chieftain, while speaking, emphasized the importance of effectively communicating the reasons for the closure to the public.

In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar, a copy of which was made available to Media Talk Africa on Friday, Mumuni stated that adequate information could help alleviate any confusion regarding the matter.

The APC chieftain said, “I am writing to address the recent school closures in some parts of the northern states of Nigeria during Ramadan. It is my understanding that the decision to temporarily close schools has been made to accommodate children in boarding sections who are observing fasting during this holy month.

“While I appreciate the intention behind this decision, I believe it is essential to communicate the reasons for the closure more effectively to the public.

“Adequate information can help alleviate any confusion and ensure that parents, students, and the broader community fully understand the rationale for this short closure.

“Many parents may be unaware of the challenges fasting poses for children, especially in a boarding school environment. The inability to properly manage their daily activities while fasting can impact their health and academic performance. Thus, the decision to prioritize the well-being of students is commendable.

“To foster better understanding and community support, I recommend that schools or relevant authorities provide clear and timely information regarding the closure.”
