El-Rufai visited Buhari at his residence in Kaduna State on Friday.
The meeting comes just days after President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, and the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, also paid a visit to Buhari.
Buhari, who handed over power to President Tinubu on May 29, 2023, initially returned to his hometown of Daura in Katsina State after leaving office.
In February 2025, Buhari relocated permanently to Kaduna from Katsina.
The meeting between El-Rufai and Buhari was disclosed by a staunch follower of the former governor, @IU_Wakili.
Wakili wrote: “Mallam Nasir El-Rufai paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his home in Kaduna today.
“Patiently waiting for somebody to call PMB irrelevant.
“The outcome of this meeting will decide if we are playing polo or not.”
