Hundreds of Atiku supporters defect to APC, pledge allegiance to Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a significant political boost as hundreds of former Atiku Abubakar support groups from the 19 Northern states formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.

The defection took place at the A-Class Event Centre in Abuja, where leaders of the coalition pledged their allegiance to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Senator Barau I Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, described the mass defection as a “big catch” for the APC, emphasizing that the party welcomes all members equally and rewards hard work.

APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, lauded the move, calling it a major setback for the PDP.

He expressed confidence that the ruling party’s progressive ideology, internal democracy, and commitment to good governance would continue to attract more members.
