Elon Musk, leader of the US Department of Government Effectiveness, DOGE, has indicated that the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia will stop immediately if the United States imposes sanctions on the top ten Ukrainian oligarchs.
He specified that restrictions should be introduced especially against those who own mansions in Monaco.
Musk stated this in a tweet via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday.
The American billionaire was replying after an X user, @BasedMikeLee, asked “who paid” for the massive Ukrainian flag, reportedly world’s largest, unfurled near the White House.
“Place sanctions on the top 10 Ukrainian oligarchs, especially the ones with mansions in Monaco, and this will stop immediately.
“That is the key to the puzzle,” Musk wrote.
This is coming after Musk had few days ago accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of prolonging the war in order to maintain power.
Recall that the war between Ukraine and Russia started when Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in their neighbouring country in February 2022.
The war has led to several casualties and US President Donald Trump and some major European countries are keen to strike a deal peace to end the conflict.
