NANS lauds FG’s adoption of TASUED as federal university

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has described the adoption of Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED, by the Tinubu-led administration as a testament to its commitment to education.

NANS National Vice President for Inter-Campus Affairs, Akinbodunse Praise, stated this on Sunday in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

While commending the initiative, Praise added that it also demonstrates the president’s genuine intentions for the overall development of the education sector in the country.

He also praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for sustaining the institution despite previous administrations’ attempts to scrap it.

The statement reads: “As students in the state, we will not forget that during our struggle in 2012 to prevent the institution from being scrapped by a previous administration, we lost some of our colleagues.

“We honour these colleagues every 14th of February. It is a thing of joy today that President Bola Tinubu, who has deemed it fit to elevate TASUED to a federal institution, has ensured that our efforts were not in vain.”

Praise also expressed deep appreciation to the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, and other well-meaning Nigerians who stood their ground to ensure the school remained functional.

He assured that the student community would continue to support the Federal Government for the overall benefit of Nigerian students.

Media Talk Africa reports that the Federal Government, through a statement on Sunday by Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the adoption of Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijagun, Ogun State, as a federal university.
