Elon Musk calls for US exit from NATO

Elon Musk, a senior adviser to United States President Donald Trump, has thrown his weight behind a US exit from the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO.

Musk made this statement in a post on his X social media platform on Sunday.

According to him, it does not make sense for America to pay for the defence of Europe.

Musk was responding to a post on X on Sunday that asserted the US should “Exit NATO now!”

“We really should,” the Tesla Inc. co-founder and chief executive officer said.

“Doesn’t make sense for America to pay for the defence of Europe.”

Just last week, Musk agreed with a suggestion by a conservative commentator that the US should leave both NATO and the United Nations.

Musk’s comments come at a time when the future of NATO, which will mark its 76th anniversary in April, hangs in the balance.
