NPFL: Rangers underrated ‘struggling’ Akwa United — Ilechukwu

Rangers technical adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu has admitted that his team underrated Akwa United in their matchday 28 fixture in Enugu.

The Flying Antelopes held struggling Akwa United to a 1-1 draw at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday.

Isaac Saviour’s goal from the spot earned Rangers a point after Osoba Kabir had put Akwa United ahead in the first-half.

Ilechukwu believes that his team’s failure to start the game well affected them.

“I think we did not put in our best in the first half, maybe due to Akwa United’ position on the log and it nearly cost us the match,” Ilechukwu stated in a post-match interview.

“It is quite unfortunate that what we expected was not what we saw in the game.

“I feel my players underrated our opponent. This result is a very big setback to the team’s ambition.”
