2026 World Cup qualifier: Remo Stars celebrate goalkeeper Obassa’s Benin Republic call-up

Remo Stars have celebrated their goalkeeper, Serge Obassa, following his invitation to Benin Republic’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Obassa was named in the 25-man squad released by head coach Gernot Rohr on Monday.

“Obassa Adebiyi has received a call-up to the Benin Republic squad for this month’s 2026 World Cup qualifying matches, VS Zimbabwe on March 20; VS South Africa on March 25,” Remo Stars wrote on X.

“Congratulations, Serge – we’re proud of you #WeAreRemoStars.”

The Sky Blue Stars signed the shot-stopper from AS Cotonou in August 2024.

He has featured regularly for the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL leaders this season.
