Gov Yusuf strengthens ties with World Bank, seeks expanded support for Kano

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has intensified efforts to secure additional development support for Kano State by engaging with the new leadership of the World Bank in Nigeria.

During a high-level meeting at the World Bank office, Governor Yusuf met with Country Director Dr. Ndiamé Diop and senior officials to discuss scaling up interventions across critical sectors.

This was revealed in a statement on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Key areas of discussion included health, education, climate change, governance, human capital development, agriculture, ease of doing business, and women’s economic empowerment.

Governor Yusuf emphasized his administration’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient resource utilization, ensuring that World Bank-funded projects deliver tangible benefits to the people of Kano.

In response, Dr. Diop recognized Kano’s strategic role in the bank’s initiatives and highlighted various opportunities the state can leverage to achieve sustainable economic and social development.
