UCL: I’ve seen it – Ancelotti addresses Alvarez penalty controversy as Madrid beat Atletico

Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti has given his opinion on the controversial penalty annulment that affected Atletico Madrid during the shootout in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg tie on Wednesday.

Julian Alvarez scored, but after a VAR review, it was determined that the Atletico Madrid striker had touched the ball twice.

However, Ancelotti was in agreement with VAR’s decision, insisting that he also saw it.

Recall that Atletico won 1-0 after 120 minutes to take the match to spot-kicks.

The Los Blancos emerged as 4-2 victors after successful efforts from Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde and Antonio Rudiger.

Ancelotti was asked to give his opinion on the controversial penalty annulment that affected Atletico during the shootout.

The Italian said as per Diario AS at his post-match interview: “I think they had already detected it.

“When we realised this doubt, they had already detected it from the VAR. I have not realised this.

“I have seen it and I think he touches the second touch with his left foot.”
