The Jigawa State Police Command has taken a 20-year-old woman, Rukayyah Amadu, into custody for allegedly causing the death of her 30-year-old co-wife, Asiyah Amadu, by dousing her with hot water during an argument.

This was contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam on Thursday.

According to the statement, the incident took place on February 24, 2025, at Buju village in Dutse Local Government Area.

“There was a misunderstanding between the two women, which escalated, leading Rukayyah to pour hot water on Asiyah,” Adam stated.

He revealed that Asiyah suffered severe burns and was immediately rushed to Dutse General Hospital for treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries on March 4, 2025.

“At about 0900hrs on March 4, the victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel,” he added.

Following the incident, the police arrested Rukayyah and transferred her to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.

“During interrogation, Rukayyah confessed to committing the act,” Adam disclosed.

“However, investigations are still ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the case.”

The police assured the public of a thorough investigation and pledged that justice would be served.
