EPL Table: Arsenal cut Liverpool’s lead with 1-0 win over Chelsea

Mikel Merino scored the only goal as Arsenal defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners came into the game 15 points behind leaders Liverpool. The Reds will not be playing in the league this weekend, as they face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

Mikel Arteta knew that only a win would see them keep their faint title hopes alive.

Arsenal came out firing on all cylinders in the first half and should have gone into the break at least three goals up.

However, they only had Merino’s header from a corner kick as the only goal to show for their dominance.

There were no goals in the second half, as Arsenal cut the gap to 12 points, with both teams now having nine games each left to play.

Arsenal host Fulham after the international break while Liverpool clash with Everton in Merseyside Derby.
