Super Eagles: New boy Ogbu reveals he rejected Norway

Super Eagles new invitee Igoh Ogbu has revealed he once turned down the chance to represent Norway.

Ogbu moved to Norwegian club Roseburg after impressing for Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland in 2019.

The 25-year-old also had stint with Levanger and Sogndal before joining Lillestrøm.

The centre-back caught the eye during his stint with Lillestrøm and later earned a move to Czech giants Slavia Prague.

“There was a chance to play for Norway in my last season with Lillestrom,” he told SCORENigeria.

“But I always knew that I will also get my chance with the Super Eagles.”

Ogbu is in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
