SDP an offshoot of APC – NNPP chieftain Galadima

Buba Galadima, a prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has asserted that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is merely a faction of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Arise TV on Monday, Galadima questioned the SDP’s independence, pointing out that only APC members seem to be defecting to it.

He explained that the APC was originally formed as a coalition of individuals with diverse backgrounds and ideologies, and that the SDP is primarily made up of former APC members.

“The SDP is just an offshoot of the APC. It was APC members who moved to what is now called SDP—nothing more. How many people from other parties have joined the SDP? That is the real question.”

Galadima also likened the situation to politics in Lagos, where he accused the ruling party of systematically dismantling opposition forces.

He referenced Jandor, the former PDP gubernatorial candidate, who he claimed was unfairly denied victory in the last election but later returned to the APC despite widespread public support.

He called on politicians to engage in opposition politics based on principles rather than self-interest.

On why the NNPP did not form a coalition with other parties during the 2023 elections, Galadima stated, “We are a party of ideology and principles. We don’t enter coalitions just for the sake of power at all costs.”
