2026 WCQ: Super Eagles fired up to beat Rwanda – Troost-Ekong

Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong admitted that the team is fired up for the clash with the Amavubi of Rwanda.

Eric Chelle’s side started preparation for the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture on Tuesday.

The players had another session at the Amahoro Stadium training ground on Wednesday night.

The centre-back declared that they are looking forward to the crucial clash.

“Everything has been good, first training session, all the boys in camp, we’re fired up. Of course we know we have a big job ahead, it comes with the pressure but I keep saying to everyone that this pressure is a privilege so all the boys are feeling that,” he told the Super Eagles media.

Troost-Ekong acknowledged that Rwanda will be a tough opponent, but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to secure maximum points.

“Of course we have to respect them for their position on the table and I think we understand what they want to do.

“They have a new coach as well so it’s going to be a very loaded match but we’re just trying to break it down and focus on the things we can control,” he added.
