Kwara govt charges teachers on punctuality

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, has urged teachers and staff in state-owned public schools to uphold punctuality and dedication to duty.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Peter Amogbonjaye on Thursday.

According to the statement, the commissioner gave the charge during an oversight visit to some schools in Ilorin, where he stressed the need for strict adherence to professional responsibilities.

He cautioned against indolence and absenteeism, emphasizing that teachers must complement the government’s efforts in providing quality education.

“This is an oversight visit for me to have first-hand information about your level of compliance with the guidelines and directives of the ministry. I am here to see that the right thing is being done by both the staff and the students,” Olohungbebe said.

He commended the schools’ management and staff for maintaining clean and safe environments, urging them to sustain the practice.

The Junior Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Tanke, Mrs. Adebara Janet Olufunke, expressed gratitude to the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration for prioritizing education through the provision of more classrooms and the reconstruction of the school’s fence.

“We sincerely appreciate the government’s intervention in improving school infrastructure. On behalf of the management and staff, I assure you that we will continue to give our best to enhance the quality of education,” she stated.

The schools visited during the inspection include Queen Elizabeth School (Ilorin West), Government Secondary School (Ilorin East), Community Secondary School (Sango-Eleboto), Fate-Basin Secondary School (Fate), and Government Day Secondary School (Tanke), all in Ilorin South Local Government Area.
