2026 WCQ: Osimhen made me cry – Arokodare opens up after making Super Eagles debut

New Super Eagles striker, Tolu Arokodare, has opened up on why he became emotional after playing in the 2-0 win over Rwanda in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday.

Arokodare made his debut for Nigeria in the game after being called up by new head coach, Eric Chelle.

The 24-year-old replaced two-goal hero Victor Osimhen in the closing minutes of the match in Kigali.

After the game, the Genk frontman could be seen in tears in the dressing room.

Arokodare has now revealed what triggered his emotions after hugging his teammate and idol, Victor Osimhen.

“What a lot of people don’t know is I started crying when I hugged [Victor] Osimhen because I hugged him and said ‘thank you,’” Arokodare revealed per a video by OJB Sports.

“I said in an interview he’s played a huge role in my career and life.”
