Nunez isn’t staying next season – Michael Owen tells Liverpool to sign Arsenal target

Former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen has suggested to the Reds that Darwin Nunez would be leaving the club next season.

According to Owen, Liverpool should make a summer transfer move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who is also a target for Arsenal.

Isak has enjoyed a brilliant season so far for Newcastle as he led them to win the Carabao Cup this term.

The Sweden international scored the goal last weekend that helped end Newcastle’s long wait for a trophy, thank to a 2-1 win against Liverpool.

However, Owen wants Liverpool to attle Arsenal for Isak’s signature if the 25-year-old is available in the summer transfer market.

“If Isak was available I think Liverpool would do everything in their power to get somebody like that,” Owen told talkSPORT.

“But so would Arsenal. Arsenal are absolutely desperate for a player like that. Who wouldn’t be desperate for a player like that.”

He added “You prefer Isak, he is the one who is going to bounce you into that elite level. You need special players, look at Liverpool this year, they’ve got the best centre-half, one of the best attackers in Mo Salah.

“I can’t see Darwin Nunez in a Liverpool shirt next season. I think there is interest in him as well, I think one or two Premier League teams are interested in him. There is foreign interest in him as well.”
