2026 WCQ: Zimbabwe in Uyo to make history – Captain Munetsi

Warriors of Zimbabwe captain Marshal Munetsi has declared that the team is not in Uyo for a holiday.

Munetsi stated that they are determined to make history by defeating the Super Eagles in front of their home fans.

“I think all the guys want to achieve something historic—something that has never been done in our country,” he said during a media interaction on Monday.

“It is something that will motivate us and give us the energy to compete. We didn’t start the qualifiers the way we would have liked, as we dropped points away from home.

“We don’t have the same privilege as Nigeria, who are playing their home games at home, but everyone should understand that we are not here for a holiday—we are here to make our own history.”

Tuesday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

The Warriors are the only team yet to record a win in Group C and currently sit at the bottom of the table with three points.
