NPFL grants Sunshine Stars’ return to Ijebu Ode

The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has approved Sunshine Stars’ return to the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode.

The Owena Waves adopted the Dipo Dina Stadium as their makeshift home venue at the start of the season following renovation works at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, which is their home ground.

The NPFL later ordered them to play their home games at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne due to the poor state of the Dipo Dina Stadium’s playing surface.

“However, going by the logistics and scheduling problems encountered at the Remo Stars Stadium, and with the Dipo Dina Stadium having met our conditions, you are hereby granted approval for the use of the above-mentioned facility,” reads a statement by NPFL Chief Executive Officer, Davidson Owumi.

Sunshine Stars will host Heartland in a matchday 31 encounter in Ijebu Ode on Wednesday.

Abubakar Bala’s side currently occupies 19th position on the table.
