2025 WCQ: That’s disrespectful – Ex-Brazil star Silas slams Raphinha over Argentina comment

Former Brazil midfielder Paulo Silas, has slammed his countryman, Raphinha, over the Barcelona winger’s comments about Argentina ahead their 2026 World Cup qualifying clash.

He described the comment made by the player during an interview with country legend, Romario as disrespectful.

Silas wants the forward to understand that matches are not won before they are played, adding that he struggled to understand the kind of message the 28-year-old was trying to get across.

Raphinha, during the Inter had claimed that he and his Brazilian teammates will beat Argentina on and off the pitch, saying ‘f*ck them,’ which seems to have triggered the Argentines.

Silas slammed Raphinha, telling Radiolared that the comment was for his disrespectful.

“It was disrespectful of that kid. He should have seen Messi here when he won the Copa America and didn’t let his teammates sing against Brazil because of the friendship he has with Neymar and the respect.

“Raphinha was very bad. Brazil should not do it if they were above Argentina and now that they are not either.

“Football does not look the way he said it. I don’t know what message he wanted to pass, but you don’t win before you play a game.”

Argentina plays Brazil at the Monumental Stadium in the 2026 CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
