2026 WCQ: They played good game – Chelle singles out two Super Eagles players

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has singled out two of his players for praise following Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier 1-1 against Zimbabwe on Tuesday.

Chelle watched as Nigeria and Zimbabwe shared a point each at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The first-half ended in a goalless draw as both teams failed to score.

However, Victor Osimhen gave the Super Eagles the lead in the 74th minute via a nice header.

But the visitors equalized late in the game through Tawanda Chirewa.

Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Chelle said both Ola Aina and Bright Osayi-Samuel played good game against the Warriors.

Chelle said, “Ola played on the right side and sometimes on the left side. I think he played a good game and Bright too.”

He added, “But it was difficult at the end, in the last minutes. We got a draw.”

Nigeria are in fourth position with seven points in Group C standings after the Zimbabwe encounter.
