Abia Warriors beat Lobi in Umuahia, goes third on NPFL table

Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia on Wednesday, beat Lobi Stars of Makurdi by 2-0 in a midweek Nigeria Professional Football League match.

In-form striker, Sunday Megwo scored in the 24th minutes of the First Half for the host team.

In the second half, Abia Warriors increased pressure on Lobi Stars by firing hot shots which were parried away by the Lobi goalkeeper.

Warriors then introduced Stanley Dimgba and Emmanuel Onu in the 83rd minutes in search of more goals.

Anthony Ijeoma scored in 93rd minutes to seal victory for Abia Warriors, taking the team to the 3rd on the Nigerian Professional Football League table with 50 points in 31 matches.

Speaking to Media Talk Africa at Umuahia township stadium after the game, the Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors, Coach Imama Amapakabo praised his players for overcoming the Lobi challenge.

He expressed confidence that his team would finish the League in flying colours even as he praised his star striker, Sunday Megwo for scoring and emerging the Man of the Match.
