Champions League: UEFA helped Real Madrid beat Atletico – Simeone

Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has accused UEFA of “deciding” their Champions League loss to Real Madrid.

Simeone is still furious about Julian Alvarez’s spot-kick which was ruled out for a double touch.

The Atletico boss believes his compatriot was unfairly penalised.

The incident proved crucial as Simeone’s team crashed out of the tournament.

“We did very well in the Champions League; we competed well, we won the second leg [at home],” Simeone told reporters following a 1-1 draw with Espanyol on Saturday.

“We finished as UEFA had decided. We won and we were eliminated.

“I don’t consider it a blow. What happened was very clear.”
