Trump reveals those that will not pay tariffs

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that companies which manufacture their products in the United States will pay zero tariffs.

The 78-year-old Republican made this statement at the White House Rose Garden while unveiling his long-promised set of tariffs on imports as part of his “America First” agenda.

“There’s no tariff if you build your product right here in America,” Trump said.

He added, “Terminate your own tariffs, drop your barriers, don’t manipulate your currencies, and start buying tens of billions of dollars’ worth of American goods.”

Trump has already imposed a 10 per cent tariff on all imports into the United States.

He has also imposed 25 per cent tariffs on all foreign-made vehicles, as well as a 25 per cent tariff on imports of steel and aluminium.

Trump had announced last week that the US tariffs will take effect starting on April 3.
