I couldn’t have tolerated Peter Obi’s presidency because of his ‘annoying voice’ – Wani

Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Wani, has come under fire after criticizing the 2023 Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s voice, describing it as “annoying.”

The singer publicly expressed relief that Peter Obi didn’t win the 2023 presidential election, saying he couldn’t have “tolerated” his voice for eight years.

On his X handle, Wani wrote, “I don’t think I could have tolerated P*ter *bi’s voice for 8 years man!”

“He’s on point tho… on paper.”

His post earned backlash, but the singer insisted that he was right to express his opinion, no matter what.

One @Hillz_Hilary warned, “Worst mistake to make as an artist is to air out political views.”

Wani replied, “What political view? I just don’t like the way the ngga talks, na crime?”

One @SarahIkhami asked, “The way some of you think. What does his voice have to do with anything?”

Wani responded, “It [Peter Obi’s voice] is annoying in my opinion. How it became a political debate, you have to ask these fools.”

Supporters of the former LP candidate threatened to cancel the singer.

@Delachimes wrote, “You are cancelled. No streams for you, no tour for you, no music career for you. Not under my regime.”

@MouthNeverest wrote, “@WaniWndr you’re a tender fool. Better continue making toilet seat music for the brief amusement of your friends & family.

With all your privilege & Lagos connects, you still never blew since 2016… you de come studio to smoke loud on palace road Oniru.”
