NPFL: Enyimba ready for oriental showdown with Abia Warriors

Enyimba midfielder Kalu Nweke is anticipating a challenging oriental derby against Abia Warriors.

The nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL champions will host Imama Amapakabo’s side in Matchday 31 encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, on Sunday.

Abia Warriors approach the fixture in buoyant spirits, having secured victories in their last three league outings.

Nweke acknowledged that the Umuahia-based club would present a stern test for his side.

“I must say, it’s going to be a tough one,” Nweke remarked.
“Abia Warriors are a team I know very well. I’ve played there before, and they are a solid side.”

Since 2014, both teams have faced each other 19 times, with Enyimba enjoying the superior record — 11 wins, four draws, and three defeats.

Abia Warriors currently sit third on the league table with 50 points from 31 matches, while Enyimba occupy ninth place with 43 points from the same number of fixtures.
