It worries me – Ian Wright singles out one Arsenal player for criticism

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has singled out David Raya for criticism over his penalty-saving tactic for the club.

Wright, who expressed worry, spoke after Arsenal’s Premier League 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday.

Recall that Leandro Trossard put the Gunners ahead at Goodison Park.

But Iliman Ndiaye levelled the score from the penalty spot in the second half.

However, Wright was not pleased with Raya for making penalty too easy for the penalty taker after Ndiaye sent the Spain keeper the wrong way to pull Everton level.

“I saw something the other day with David Raya on the penalties,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“He seems to be taking this massive leap to one side, which is almost giving the penalty taker so much time to say, ‘well, he is definitely going that way’.

“He is giving it up, especially if you have got a longer run up, you can actually see him a yard away from the ball, he is gone, he [Ndiaye] is not kicked the ball yet and David Raya has taken two steps to his right.

“That is the only thing I look at and worries me with the penalties being taken against us at the minute.”

The result leaves Arsenal in the second position on the Premier League table with 62 points from 31 games.

Mikel Arteta’s men will now face Real Madrid next in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
