‘They should be ashamed’ – Guardiola blasts Man Utd fans over Foden

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has criticised Manchester United fans for the chants aimed at playmaker Phil Foden during the 0-0 Premier League draw between the two teams on Sunday.

The Spaniard expressed his dissatisfaction with the way Foden was taunted throughout the match, with some of the chants also targeting the England international’s mother.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Guardiola condemned those responsible for the chanting. He insisted that such individuals should be “ashamed” of their behaviour, highlighting their lack of class.

Guardiola said, “Lack of class. But it’s not United, it’s the people, you know? We are so exposed on screens in world football – managers, owners, and football players especially.

“Honestly, I don’t understand the mindset of the people who involved Phil’s mum; it is a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed.”

Foden struggled to make an impact during the encounter at Old Trafford and was replaced by Jeremie Doku in the second half.
