Champions League: Angry Ancelotti removes Vinicius as Real Madrid’s penalty talker

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has removed Vinicius Jr as the team’s designated penalty taker.

Marca reports that Kylian Mbappe will take the spot-kicks from their next match.

Ancelotti has taken the decision after Vinicius missed from 12 yards in the 2-1 defeat to Valencia in La Liga last weekend.

The Brazilian winger failed to hand his team an early lead as he saw his feeble shot comfortably saved by Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Mbappe will now take Los Blancos’ spot-kicks, starting with their upcoming Champions League fixture against Arsenal.

The miss against Valencia was Vinicius’ second penalty miss in the 2024-25 campaign, as he had earlier failed to convert a spot-kick against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The report, however, adds that if Mbappe now fails to convert penalties, the next in line to take spot-kicks is Jude Bellingham.
