Former Chelsea defender John Terry has named four current and retired Premier League centre-backs as the best defenders in the history of the Premier League.
Terry made his selection during an interview with SportBible, when asked to name his ‘Mount Rushmore’ of defenders.
The Three Lions legend sees himself among this elite group, and named the likes of Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.
Rio Ferdinand and John Terry, no doubt, are among the best central defenders football has witnessed.
Ferdinand established himself as one of the best centre-backs of all time at Manchester United.
Terry said, “I’m then going to go Rio. I think longevity, playing at the top clubs, playing in the big competitions year in year out, winning trophies relentlessly in terms of that. For me, he just had everything, so 100 per cent Rio’s in the conversation for me.”
Terry then added Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Arsenal legend Tony Adams.
