NPFL to investigate attack on Ikorodu City by Shooting Stars supporters

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), is set to investigate the incident that occurred during the matchday 32 clash between Shooting Stars and Ikorodu City at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

According to reports, the visitors’ team bus was vandalized by Shooting Stars fans after the game.

It also took the intervention of the police to stop the fans from gaining access to the dressing room.

Ikorodu City were held at the stadium for at least two hours after the game and were escorted out by military officials.

The NPFL Chairman, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye said that the board would be sitting on Wednesday(today), for an investigative hearing on the incident.

“We are not unaware of the unacceptable occurrence and have scheduled a disciplinary meeting to determine appropriate measures to deter a recurrence”, Elegbeleye stated.

“The board will consistently act to stamp out all forms disreputable behaviours to keep the league free of unsporting engagement before, during and after league games.”
