Champions League: Real Madrid may sack Ancelotti after Arsenal defeat – Alvarez

Real Madrid are ready to part ways with manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Tuesday night’s humiliating 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final first has sent alarm bells ringing within the LaLiga club.

The defeat to the Gunners came days after a league loss to Valencia.

The two results mean that both their LaLiga and UEFA Champions League trophy hopes are now hanging by a thread.

Questions have been asked about Ancelotti and his future at the Bernabeu all through the season and they have only grown louder now.

According to Spanish journalist, Ramon Alvarez, it is not entirely ruled out that Real Madrid will appoint Bayer Leverkusen’s manager Xabi Alonso as their new manager before the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

Alonso has been identified as Ancelott’s successor for quite some time now.

He was first linked with a return to Madrid last summer but decided to stay one more season with the Bundesliga champions.
