UCL: They can’t qualify – Rio Ferdinand predict Real Madrid vs Arsenal second leg

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has provided the reason why it would be difficult for Spanish giants Real Madrid to win against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Ferdinand shared his opinion after watching Arsenal defeat Los Blancos 3-0 at the Emirates in the first leg this week.

The Gunners shocked many of their doubters with a massive 3-0 victory over Los Blancos, thanks to second-half goals from Declan Rice and Mikel Merino.

To make it to the last four of this season’s competition, Real Madrid will need to score at least four goals against Mikel Arteta’s side in the second leg at the Bernabeu.

For various reasons, the game would be a tough challenge for Real Madrid if they wish to qualify.

Ferdinand has now predicted that Carlo Ancelotti’s side will not win the tie against Arsenal in the second leg.

He said via his YouTube channel, “I don’t think Real Madrid can win this tie. Given that they don’t keep clean sheets, that’s a massive red flag for me.

“So, I believe that Real Madrid have to score five goals to win this game. They need four to draw and get to penalties [in my opinion]. I don’t think it’s doable. Arsenal [will] definitely score [at the Bernabeu].”

Ferdinand’s prediction is a bold one, but Real Madrid are known for making massive comebacks.

Los Merengues pulled off a 5-4 aggregate comeback against Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-final in the 2021-22 season. They also secured a 4-3 aggregate return against Bayern Munich in the semi-finals last season.
