Anambra Guber: Nweke emerges candidate for AA party

Security expert, Jeff Nweke has been elected as the candidate of the African Alliance, AA, for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra.

Nweke, emerged at a congress of the party held in Awka on Thursday, where he scored a total of 58 votes ahead of his rivals, Amarachukwu Obioha and Mike Enemuo who scored eight and six votes to come second and third respectively.

Returning officer for the congress, James Vernimbe, who announced the result of the congress said the Option A4 adopted for the exercise was for fairness, transparency and in line with the constitution of the party.

According to him, a total of 72 delegates turned up for the election out of which 72 were accredited and 72 valid votes cast.

In his acceptance speech, Nweke said he would address the leadership challenges in Anambra if elected.

He promised to tackle insecurity and make sure the people of Anambra have a safe environment to live and do business.

Media Talk Africa reports that the exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
