Osun APC shuts secretariat to honour slain National Director Adeniji

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has announced the temporary closure of its secretariat situated along the Gbongan-Ibadan road, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, following the tragic death of AbdulRauf Adekunle Adeniji, popularly known as ‘Congo’.

Media Talk Africa gathered that Adeniji, who was the Director of Administration at the national secretariat of the party, was recently kidnapped and killed by his captors.

Announcing this via a statement released on Thursday, the Osun APC Secretary, Alao Olabisi Kamoru, said the Secretariat would remain closed from Friday through Tuesday and reopen on Wednesday.

The decision was made to honour the memory of the late party chieftain who was recently kidnapped and subsequently killed.

According to Kamoru, “the closure is a mark of respect for the deceased. The leadership of the party decided to shut down the secretariat in honour of one of our foremost party leaders who was taken from us in a most unfortunate manner.”

Kamoru revealed that “Adeniji was reportedly abducted from his residence in Abuja two weeks ago, along with some of his relatives.

“News of his supposed release emerged three days ago, bringing brief hope to his family and colleagues.

“However, that information proved to be false as confirmation of his death was received later. The party described the killing as a devastating loss to both the state and national levels of the APC.

“We urge members of our great party to use this period to pray for the repose of the soul of our late leader, AbdulRauf Adeniji Congo,” Kamoru added in the statement.

The Osun APC scribe called on party members to remember the family in their prayers.

“It is important we ask Allah to grant his immediate family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.

The APC described Adeniji as a committed and experienced administrator whose contributions to the party were invaluable.

“His death comes at a time when his expertise was considered critical to the party’s progress.”

Adeniji hailed from Ile-Ife, Osun State, and was widely respected for his organisational abilities and dedication to the party’s ideals.
