Abia govt diverts traffic as diesel tanker falls, spills content on road

Abia State government has advised all road users traveling to Abriba, Nkporo and Ohafia to divert to Bende road to continue their journey.

This followed the falling of a petrol tanker on the newly tarred road between Igbere junction and Igbere hill in Bende LGA.

Though no body died in the accident, the tanker spilled its Diesel content on the road, creating fear among residents and other road users.

But in response to the situation, the Abia State Road Safety and Traffic Management, on Saturday, advised road users heading to Igbere-Abriba -Ohafia road to use the Umuahia -Bende road.

The Abia road safetly and traffic management agency in the message , assured road users that the road was being cleared for safety and public use.

But despite the dangers of possible explosion, some residents and transporters rushed to the Diesel spill site to scoop petroleum product.
