The White House on Saturday described the nuclear deal talks between the United States and Iran in Oman as “positive and constructive.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, U.S. Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi met in Muscat.
U.S. Ambassador to Oman, Ana Escrogima, accompanied the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy to the meeting, which was hosted and mediated by Badr Busaidi.
The White House noted that the discussions “were very positive and constructive,” and expressed gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for its support of the initiative.
The statement said Witkoff underscored to Araghchi that he had President Donald Trump’s instructions to resolve the U.S.-Iran “differences through dialogue and diplomacy.”
“These issues are very complicated, and Special Envoy Witkoff’s direct communication today was a step forward in achieving a mutually beneficial outcome”, it added.
The United States presidency announced that both sides have agreed to meet again next Saturday.
