PDP deputy governorship candidate in 2023, Emana defects to APC

The 2023 Deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River State, Emana Ambrose-Amawhe, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Her defection was confirmed on Sunday after she paid a courtesy visit to Governor Bassey Otu and his wife, Rev. Eyoanwan Otu.

Emana, who announced her switch via her X handle earlier in the day, was accompanied by the state APC chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor.

“I only went to greet His Excellency, the Governor, and His Wife, Her Excellency Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, as a mark of respect and to formally inform them of my movement,” she told reporters after the meeting.

She further revealed that a formal event to mark her defection, alongside “thousands of my supporters and other big names,” would be held soon.

Emana, who previously contested for the House of Representatives seat for the Bakassi/Akpabuyo/Calabar South Federal Constituency under the PDP, resigned from the party in a letter dated March 28, addressed to the chairman of Edem Odo Ward in Akpabuyo LGA.

“The decision to resign from the PDP was not taken lightly,” she stated, reaffirming her dedication to contributing to the development of Cross River State and Nigeria at large.
