Magnitude 5.2 earthquake strikes San Diego County in California

An earthquake measuring 5.2 in magnitude struck the interior of San Diego County, California, on Monday.

The unfortunate incident was confirmed by the United States Geological Survey, USGS.

According to Reuters, the quake occurred at a depth of 13.4 km (8.33 miles).

Tremors were felt across a wide area of San Diego County, as well as in Orange County and Los Angeles County to the north.

The epicentre was located approximately 3 miles south of Julian and 17 miles east of Ramona, but the quake was felt throughout the region.

There were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries, although some residents reported experiencing a strong jolt.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the strongest shaking occurred in sparsely populated areas and was classified as “strong” on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale.
