Easter: FRSC deploys officers, establishes mobile courts in Abia

Abia State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has deployed 500 of its personnel, 300 special marshalls and patrol vehicles across the State for Easter special patrol.

The FRSC also said special attention would be given to high risk areas and accident-prone spots to prevent accidents and loss of lives.

A statement which was released by Sector Commander of FRSC in Abia, CC Ngozi Ezeoma, said major routes in the State would be monitored, while there would be enforcement of compliance to safety standards.

Ezeoma, who said that mobile courts will be operational throughout the Easter period to prosecute traffic offenders and deter reckless driving behaviors, said that increased movements of people and vehicles heighten the risks of road traffic crashes that can claim lives.

She warned drivers against drunk driving, use of phone when driving, overloading, speeding and called on transport union leaders, religious bodies, and community heads to support the road safety campaign by sensitizing their members on the importance of responsible road use.

She further released phone numbers for the Abia public to call in the case of emergencies.
