Amid Nigerian govt ban, Eedris Abdulkareem launches ‘Tell Your Papa’ challenge online

Singer Eedris Abdulkareem has launched ‘Tell Your Papa’ challenge on social media, amid the federal government ban.

Media Talk Africa reports that the Nigerian government had banned the singer’s newly released anti-Tinubu song “Tell Your Papa” on all radio and television stations.

The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, in a memo signed by its Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, tagged the song as “inappropriate, and offensive”.

Reacting to the ban, Abdulkareem in an Instagram post, labeled the government actions as an “attempt to silence the truth and suppress criticism”.

However, the singer in a new development on Sunday, launched the “Tell Your Papa” challenge on his Instagram page, stating that it’s time to speak the truth to power.

Sharing the challenge post, he wrote, “Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence. There is a time to speak and a time to keep silent. This is the time to speak and make your voice heard”.
